Developing Critical Thinking
Learning to think critically is one of the most important skills which today’s children will need for the future. It is a known fact that human advancement comes through critical thinking. Making our students the producers of their learning and creators of new knowledge can be achieved by probing open ended questions among students. Their critical thinking can be developed using questions like:
“Can we take this further?”
“What solution do you think might solve this problem?”
“How does it relate to your experiences?”
We can ask kindergartners:
“How does the rainbow get into the sky?”
“Why does it appear only on a rainy day?”
“How could we make a butterfly catcher?”
“Why does the giraffe have a long neck?”
“Today was fun because…”
